Overall, an entertaining show worth checking out

As someone who flies alot I'm always fascinated by the inner workings of customs and their findings. This programme has been on a while now on one of my sky one channels and I normally watch it if I'm around. There are a few about but this particular one focuses on the work of officers of the Australian customes service, quaratine and inspection service and the department of immigration and citizenship.

It is another one of those fly-on-the-wall documentaries like airline or aiport that go behind the scenes of this job and the daily lives of one of the staff. I have to admit it is interesting and fascinating but you never really know how much they leave out and is set up to a certain degree. As in when the camera stops rolling you don't know what happens.

One thing I do know is having travelled to Australia myself a few times now the customs at Sydney aiport is pretty thorough and efficient and there are queues trying to get in due to the stringent methods in place.

Unlike Airline where alot of the drama comes from passengers missing their flights etc. and not being allowed to travel, with this Australian show we have far more serious matters like being disallowed entry as they are not a legal resident of Australia or cannot prove where they are going to say. Also, alot of people carry contraband items through like fresh fruit and food which is illegal as can cause contamination to Ausralia's soil. For these things there is normally an on the spot fine and a warning unless it's not the first offence.

Then you get passengers trying to smuggle counterfeit goods through or drugs on their person or that they have ingested which obviously can carry a prison sentence.

If you've never watched this programme it is enjoyable and entertaining and also quite educational if you ever to travel to Australia about what you can and can't do and what you can bring into the country across their borders.
