Probably one of the best comedies to have hit the BBC in recent years. The Office is a superb comedy/docu-soap set in the office of a paper merchants in slough. The acting and comedy are equally excellent with everyone clearly playing particular sterotypes. Or showing signs of common personality traits, which can be often found in most offices. Much of the comedy is provided by office manager, Brent, played by funnyman Ricky Gervais. Brent has most of the bad qualities you'd might expect including lack of tact, bad jokes and generally funny interaction with his staff, which turns out to be laugh out loud stuff. Throughout the series Brent has had to deal with plenty of common office issues, such as work experience, staff problems and the task of letting some people go. Added pressure is on him from Jennifer at head office to get on with the downsizing. Unfortunately he as not been very successful in making people redundant, it fact he hasn't been able to sack anyone. Although he has tried sacking the receptionist, Dawn, but when she started to cry he quickly told her he was only joking. He continues to have confrontations with the big boss, over the fact that he hasn't sacked anyone. He even tried to make up a fictious employee, claiming he had sacked her. Office comedy is in full swing with porngraphic images being passed around of Brent's head super-imposed onto a woman's body. Training day was particularly funny when a professional was brought in to train the staff. But before long Brent had taken over and he rushed home to get his guitar. He uses his guitar to cheer up his staff etc. Among other things there has been a quiz night, which turned sour towards the end of the evening. Very funny stuff. One of the best comedies ever! Monday's 9.30 BBC 2 (TONIGHT!) Tonights episode: "Although he's s
upposed to be making redundancies, Brent hires a new secretary. Then it's beers all round as the team go to Chasers, Slough's premiere nightclub. Some strong language. Widescreen." Snippet taken from the BBC website...
