Oliver TwistNewest Review: ... original show. I though that the acting in the drama was outstanding and that the programme followed a good story line. In the show the story line did follow that of the original but also included extra details such as a robbery and other exciting things. I think that these details made the show more interesting than the original show. When the programme was shown on television I never missed a single episode. Several months ago I watched the drama Oliver Twist. I though that it was an excellent programme as it was different from original show. I though that the acting in the drama was outstanding and that the programme followed a good story line. In the show the story line did follow that of the original but also included extra details such as a robbery and other exciting things. I haven’t read Charles Dicken’s classic so I cannot say whether this new adaptation by Alan Bleasdale is close to the original story or not. But I think I can say honestly that it exceeded my expectations by a long way. Oliver himself isn’t actually featured until episode 2. The first episode follows the tragic circumstances, which occur before his birth, beginning with a beautiful woman standing on a cliff clutching a locket in her hand. In the first few minutes, you will already be moved to tears. And it continues to be moving throughout. The television adaptations of the classics in recent years have been spectacular affairs with no expense spared on costumes, locations or actors. This is true of the recent ITV adaptation of Oliver twist. The film was good, but it was marred by the directors need to put in additional sections into the story regarding Oliver's mother. In Dicken's original there was little information at the beginning, and although good drama took away the authenticity of the story.
