Advantages: Hilarious, original and very likeable.

Disadvantages: None, he's great.

I discovered Omid many years ago when he did his Fat Kebab Shop Owner's Son routine on a tv programme, the name of which escapes me. I knew I was onto a winner because within minutes I was crying with laughter, and believe me that takes a lot of doing. Most comedians leave me cold but Omid Djalili is simply hilarious. Like others have said he makes fun of himself, and in a way that reminds me of Mel Brooks who likes to make fun of Jewish people even though he's Jewish himself. Mel Brooks does it as a way of breaking down stereotypes and Omid does it too by making fun of his own culture. I have been watching some of his videos on Youtube recently and there's one where he has an argument with a Nigerian car park attendant and they're both talking in a Nigerian accent. Naturally the car park attendant thinks he's taking the mick and ends up punching him in the face. The point is he's not making fun of Nigerians, he's just making observations about the way people behave. He's not afraid to make himself look silly and he's got a very likeable personality too which helps. If you've never seen him I recommend you have a look on Youtube. You're sure to have a good laugh.

Summary: Omid Djalili is just great. He makes fun of himself and helps us to see other points of view.
