Advantages: The peeeeeerfect sitcom

Every time you watch Del boy you still cant help laughing, the guys a genius in my book and I always switch it on if the funniest sitcom ever is showing on the BBC.If you have had a bad day at work or relationship stuff, it always leave you feeling warm and British inside.
I think the secret is the “social class” element to the show and all the other great Britcoms like Dads Army, Citizen Smith, Steptoe etc. The class war that rages in these shows endears them to the mass audiences as it reflects the watching public to the way they feel about everyday life.
Its magic like tonight when Dell gets one over finally and makes a few quid in the gold necklace and ambulance episode. Or say when Capt. Mannerings platoon beat Colonel Squares more snobby lot.
In Dads Army the class issue is deliciously pure as all the excellent actors play their place in the class ladder with perfect ease.
I think theres a Del Boy in all of us who’s fighting the system looking for a good deal, desperate for a bit of social climbing and here we get to cheer David Jason through his ups and downs. We all know a Boycie and we definitely all know a Trigger, iv worked with a lot of Rodneys.
As the Cassandra character and her family became more prominent towards the end of the series you could see it evolving into a run of the mill sitcom as the middle class routes of Rodneys new life finally sapped Dels fighting spirit. The best sit com of out generation.
