Advantages: perfect gelling of characters

Disadvantages: none!!

This show has been running on BBC1 since 1981. It features Del, Rodney, and Grandad to begin with. It is one of the most successful tv sitcoms of all time. It has been running since 1981, with special feature length episodes, and still awaiting the other 2 episodes that are supposedly the last!

David Jason, and Nicholas Lyndhurst have played many characters in other tv programs, and have been great, but their interaction in OFAH is perfect, and they gel to make the perfect team.

Del is Rodneys older brother. He has had to bring Rodney up by himself since their mum died. He is played by David Jason (one of my favourite actors, i must admit!)
Del sees the only way to survive, is by doing dodgy deals, and these all have often hilarious consequences.

Rodney is Dels younger brother, and had a GCE in art and english, which Del is very proud of, but Rodney knows isnt enough to get a decent job. So he is stuck living with his brother, and working for him. Rodney is played by Nicholas Lyndhurst.

Del is a market trader, so he buys cheap stuff, and goes to the market to sell it. When he buys it however, he doesnt realise that there is something wrong with it. He buys alarm clocks that go off whenever they like, briefcases where the combination to open them is on the inside, blow up dolls that exploded (a very funny episode!!) to name a few!

He usually ropes rodney into doing his dirty work, but Rodney usually manages to mess it up somehow, leading to Dels favourite phrase "you plonker Rodney".

Ohter characters also add to this fantastic programme. Mike, the landlord in the Nags Head (played by Ken McDonald) is always falling for Dels schemes, and always lets Del have drinks "on the house"!!
Trigger is also very funny, he is very slow, and always calls Rodney Dave, no-one knows why! He is a road sweeper.

My favourite episodes have to be the christmas '96 episdoes. They are among the
top 5 most watched tv programs, including princess diana and prince charles wedding!! Not bad! The batman and robin episode had me in stiches the first time i saw it.

Generally a great show, thats definately worth watching, and i will continue watcing for years to come!
