Ooglies is a kids animation show that relies on a beautifully simple format: everyday household items are given sets of eyes and their own personalities and the models are each given a pair of eyes and animated carrying out their various pranks and crazy antics. There are a number of recurring characters, such as a daredevil tomato that always ends up getting squashed/splattered, a chomping breadbun that is forever chasing an elusive strip of bacon, and an apple, a banana and an orange that are forever being tricked into getting pulped by a mischeivous blender: for example in one episode the fruit bowl gang enter a rocketship with hopes of blasting into ... I don't often sit around watching children's TV (honest!), but my attention was caught by 'OOglies', a new animated sketch show created by the BBC. The OOglies are a selection of fruits, vegetables, and general household objects who have a little pair of wobbly eyes attached to them, and get themselves into all kinds of mischief. Actually, the premise of the show is a little disturbing, as the general outcome of each sketch is that the characters get killed (usually squashed, burned, or chopped-up) in a range of different manners - think 'Final Destination' for kids, with veg instead of teenagers... To give you an example of the on-screen ... Read the complete review

The Ooglies is an animation TV show made up of model work. It is for children, and features very short (often thirty second) animations of food or inanimate objects such as staplers running around and doing silly things. They don't talk, but make funny noises; it's all very funny. Although this is for children, there is undoubtedly a humour in it that adults will enjoy. The show is very funny, and revolves around a 'Jackass' type format, where it begins with a warning not to try any of this at home. The Ooglies then do lots of silly things. The mock serious tone of the opening adds to the humour, as it's clearly all just jovial tongue in cheek ... Read the complete review

I first saw this programme a few days ago at my parents house, when they stuck the TV on for my daughter - within a few minutes, all four of us were wetting ourselves at the antics of the Ooglies - yup, even my dad, who is generally a miserable old bugger who moans about how rubbish TV is all the time . The Ooglies are a simple idea - household items with googly eyes stuck onto them, acting out a short series of sketches in stop-motion - it's such a very simple concept - but it's utterly hilarious . The show starts with a warning that all stunts are done by trained ooglies, and the under no circumstances should children or silly adults attempt to perform them ... Read the complete review

Ooglies is a programme that is played on CBBC but before you switch off thinking that it's for children then I would urge to read on and you will see that this isn't the case. The show is made up of lots of very short 30-2 minute clips that show lots of different household items and food performing stunts or everyday chores. The objects have little Oogly eyes attached to the hence the name and the whole show lasts 10-15 minutes. When I saw this on the Iplayer, I was totally intrigued to see what it was all about and I also like to watch the programmes that Noah watches to make sure it's appropriate for him so this gave me all the more reason to sit ...
