Oprah herself has become incredibly rich and powerful on the back of her TV show and the personal drive that she possesses and she is an excellent role model for women. While at times this chat show may be a bit overly sentimental and gushing it is also good entertainment and provides some thoughtful content that makes you sit up and think. The show is mostly about self improvement and it provides many avenues to explore this such as life style makeovers, improving your literary knowledge through the book club, there are also a lot of celebrity interviews and often these are just about gossip or general interst and o... more |

To lump this show in with the other audience driven shows that you see on TV like Jeremy Kyle, Springer or Trisha would be to completely misrepresent what this show has to offer the viewer. The Oprah Winfrey Show is one of my favourite TV programmes of all time and is shown every weekday in the United States. It is also broadcast in the UK on Diva TV. As well as being the highest rated, it is also the longest running daytime talk show in America and is hosted by the programme's namesake. The show has been running since 1986 and is very popular with female viewers, although Oprah also has a large male following too. The show covers a multitude of topics including celebrity interviews, fashion, self improvement and helping others. Oprah launched a very successful book club on air where people meet to discuss their opinions on selected books. ... Read the complete review

There is no better person to host a talk show !! 1)SEX CHANGE of one of the Identical twins 2)Having sex with more than one man. 3)Closing of Everybody Loves Raymond. 4)Victims of Child pornography on Internet. 5)Excessive plastic surgeries. I cannot think of all the topics covered by Oprah Winfrey in her talk show, she talks sincerely There is a connection with the participant, when she asks questions, all guests on her show seems relaxed, they forget their inhibitions, they even forget they are in front of Camera, and live audience, they not only start answering questions, but also they keep giving their ... Fancy imagining your life is so much more than the job that you do or the house you live in? Want to try to actually reach for your dreams, whether it be losing 100 pounds, being a mentor to neighbourhood kids or organising your closets? Then watch "The Oprah Winfrey Show." It is all about self-improvement from the beginning intro titles and song ("Run on" sung by Oprah herself) with visuals of a young boy hugging Oprah saying, "I love you" and her saying, "I love you too." It's easy to be cynical but actually Oprah is wonderful, inspirational and perfect daytime viewing. She has strayed far from the ... Read the complete review

Forget Jerry, diss Ricki and Montel, Oprah is breaking the mould of the tacky chat show. Years ago she had a typical US chat show, you know line 'em up and get the audience to have a go, get a bit of argy bargy going on the stage, but even then she the show was a little more conservative than its copycat formats of today. Now tune into channel 5 at one o' clock on a week day and you have a whole new set up. Oprah varies her shows between lifestyle makeovers where you get to see that all those American apple pie moms really have have as much clutter in their kitchen cupboards as we do, more 'gritty' shows involve personal thinking and relationship ...
