Advantages: Great fun, contains many classic scenes and quotes

Disadvantages: Too short, Ozzy's recent songs

The Osbournes is a TV show in a genre of its own. (Although I have to say the Anna Nicole show is making a pretty good stab at joining it)
The Osbournes started off, in my mind, as a comedy sitcom docudrama kind of show, showing real-life scenes of family life
But, it’s really become a huge cult, the like of which I haven’t seen since the Simpsons.
I always knew Ozzy Osbourne, ex frontman from Black Sabbath, was an entertaining kind of guy, in private life as well as in performance. But we now see how his whole family can be very entertaining too – whether they realise it or not. Wife and manager Sharon has her head screwed on, apart from her penchant for little dogs and stray cats.

Far from being the teenagers from hell, Kelly and Jack are actually fairly well-grounded.
They’re stupid about money, and a bit on the spoilt brat side, but that would be hard to avoid with such famous parents. And they’ve hardly been sheltered from fame, accompanying Ozzy on tour throughout their lives. The teenagers often seem to be playing the parent role, towards Ozzy especially, but also Sharon when she puts on that squeaky childlike voice of hers.
Ozzy is still the star of the show – with his befuddled head, his (at times) common sense wisdom, and of course his incessant swearing.

There are funny moment galore – Ozzy trying to work out how to use the TV remote, Ozzy getting annoyed at Sharon organising bubbles as a backdrop for his show (“I’m the prince of f----- Darkness”)

Overall, a kind of Spinal Tap-as-sitcom.

First shown on cable, now on Channel 4. The programmes are just too short, at less than half an hour, allowing for adverts.

Bring on Series 2, is what I say!

I read that Sharon has a US talk show lined up, which should be well worth viewing, too.
