ParkinsonNewest Review: ... guests and also a musical number as well either from a band or solo artist. Parkinson is a Yorkshireman and does have a bit of the straight talking qualities of men from that county however he has a soft approach to interviewing, no Paxman style interrogations from him, instead his show is more light hearted and as such is an easy pick for those looking to promote eithertheir new film stage performance, record or book, indeed anything they like really. I still enjoy watching hs chat show although these days I have to want to hear the guests he has rather than automatically tuning in for the sake of it, sometimes I find he can sort of dom... more |

Michael Parkinson has been hosting his chat show in one form or another for as long as I can remember, certainly I can recall my parents tuning in to see Parkie interview a host of celebrities from around the world and he is still going strong today, his one hour chat show usually has three guests and also a musical number as well either from a band or solo artist. WHAT IS IT ABOUT: Chat-show host Michael Parkinson interviews celebrities high and low on this one hour show usually featuring three interviews and one musical performance. IS IT ANY GOOD: I'm a fairly laid back person, but when my mum used to want to watch this, I had to leave the room. It's not for the lack of guests - Parky was renowned for getting the best guests available, and we've all seen the clips of Ali, Oliver Reed and George Best. No, what annoys me to this day is the arrogance of the presenter, who deems himself God's gift to TV. Michael Parkinson controlled his show like he was the star. He stuttered every question, ... As an interviewer/talk show host, Michael Parkinson was unique among many in that he asked the most pertinent questions of his guests then actually sat back and let them answer without interrupting them. He was genuinely interested in them and never used the programme to massage his own ego. It's such a shame that he is no longer hosting his own show because they were all so entertaining. Many a time I have watched thinking that the line-up sounded quite boring but he always brought out the best in all his guests. There are many memorable moments which have become classics in television, from Rod Hull and Emu to his chats with Mohammed Ali and George Best to ... Read the complete review

Parkinson is a chat show hosted by the man lending his name to the show, Michael Parkinson. It first aired on the BBC in 1971, and has run pretty much consistently until recently, when he aired the last ever show he would host, saying enough was enough. Parkinson runs as a chat show, with famous celebs being the interviewees sitting opposite Parky on his black leather swivel chair. The celebs featured over the years have progressively said that if there was one interview they had relished the most it was the one given by Parky. Appearing on the show became a privilege for many of the celebs. The show generally ran for the best part of an hour each ... Read the complete review

Last year The Parkinson chat show now on ITV between 9.35 pm and 10.45 pm, this is a new series, this week 4/03/2006 I tuned in again to update the review. The times had moved slightly to 21.55 pm, the duration still 1 hour. I normally tune in when I’ve nothing more important to do or when someone special to me is on display. Tonight I tuned into see our Prime Minister the Rt Hon Tony Blair suspecting it could be another scoop for Parky. I think the May local elections are one of the reasons for his appearance. Unfortunately I missed the start of the show because I was to busy checking out my DooYoo account, I missed the 2 singers performing together who ... Read the complete review
