Advantages: Good guests
Disadvantages: childish humour, annoying
This is shocking this show. I'm sorry, I know it's popular from seeing the other reviews but watching it grates steadily away at my brain. Ok, I will admit being a bit of a cultural snob and not being a fan of Paul O'Grady himself, nor his Lily Savage alter-ego, but this show is painful!
What upsets me most is that this is traditional ITV being shown on Channel 4. O'Grady presides with his whiney Scouse voice over a host of celebrities - often very A-list surprisingly - mixed in with muckaround segments, 'quirky' stories, banter and all to the soundtrack of an American style audience. They whoop, cheer, guffaw like they have no shame, deafening me at home with strange amused gurglings whenever something scatalogical or burlesque jumps up, which seems to be every couple of minutes. If that wasn't all I am forced to hear emotional noises coming out of each one of these people whatever O'Grady says.
It has taken over from the Richard and Judy spot and I somehow miss that now. This futile piece of throwaway television worries me for the standard of society and whats more I end up enduring the last ten minutes everyday in order to wait for the Simpsons that follows.
Summary: This is like a kids saturday morning show, yet without the fun and expectation

- 21/05/09 i actually like the guy but its the show and audiences and stupid british people in general that i hate. Your comment about ITV permeating C4 is spot on |

- 19/05/09 Thanks Rosebud - your 9 year old nephew's onto it. Hey Bilbob, fair enough for your comment and everyone has different opinions. Do think I explained what the show was about however... |

- 19/05/09 An unpleasant review about something that you clearly think is beneath you. The odd thing is that you bothered to keep it on long enough for the guffawing to grate, but then couldn't be bothered to write an actual review that said anything about what the show was about. |
