... Kay's situation style of comedy is quite simple, he talks about non-events we can all relate to. In a normal conversation this wouldn't be in the slightest bit funny, probably boring, but Kay has an infectious style and engrosses the audience with his tal...more

Done well before Kay's infamous John Smith's adverts that sparked a million and one copycat 'Ave It' and 'Top Bombing' incidents around the country, Kay was making his name as an outstanding young comedian, done no better than with this performance. I watched this well before he came to national fame and had no idea who this tubby, North-Western comedian was other than that he was tipped for big things. From the moment the VCR, yes it was that long ago when I watched it, started I was howling. Actually that's a lie, the black and white introduction was a bit boring and was quickly forgotten. So funny! Peter Kay is in my mind the best comedian in Britain if not the world and the fact that he does this without being vulgar or extremely offensive to other cultures etc makes him rather unusual. He keeps the bad language to a minimum ( probably as his mother is watching) and we can all relate to his experiences. This DVD sees him on his "Mum needs a Bungalow Tour" and the DVD / Video performance being filmed at Blackpool Tower. You will probably know Mr Kay's face from the John Smith's adverts (On the high diviving board bombing or on the football pitch hoofing a ball) as well as Phoenix nights, That Peter Kay thing and one-off shows ...  Read the complete review

This has got to be the funniest man in comedy. It was the very first thing I had seen him in. It is stand up comedy at a top level. His true life humour will have you wetting yourself in laughter. While watching it i realised I had seen him in the John Smiths adverts 'av it' as he kicks the football. He is a naturally funny man who's sense of humour can not be beaten. He interacts with the audience so well and the fact that he had bought his mom and nan to the show was great. He uses his family as the centre of some of his stand up comedy which turns out so well and they can only laugh and hang their heads in embarressment. The ...  Read the complete review

Garlic Bread!!!! This has got to be one of the most well known lines in comedy! Peter Kay did this show back in 2000! Nine years ago! Can you believe it. This went on to be one of the most popular stand up tours in history. Since then Kay has gone from strength to strength. He has sold out massive arena's when on tour and has become a huge celebrity. This show 'Live at the top of the tower' is in my opinion his best work. Using things that were all very familiar Kay turns the most mundaine things into brilliant comedy. Some of the highlights are his rant about 'Garlic Bread', 'It's spitting!' Here Peter tells us all about 'that fine rain ...  Read the complete review

I hadn't actually heard of Peter Kay before I first watched this DVD, and its only until after this I started watching some of his earlier work and then getting into other of his live shows as well. Its kind of a tradition in my family that on Christmas day when were waiting for the dinner to cook we always sit down and have a stand up DVD playing, I'm not sure why, or if its planned, I think someone always gets someone in the family one as a present and we just end up putting it on to see what its like. Well many years ago now, this is what was played on that Christmas day, and it was the funniest stand up id seen before. Peter Kay is not only very ...  Read the complete review
