Advantages: Everything you want it to be.
Disadvantages: Seriously, none.
Simply the best wildlife documentary Ive ever seen.
Planet Earth is simply stunning in every way. Brilliantly narrated by everyones favourite granddad David Attenbrough. The series is superbly shot, with almost logistically impossible scenes without any over doing of effects, showing simply nature at its best. The score isn't too overbearing and the editing is suitable.
The content of the series speaks for itself, absolutely astounding. This in my opinion is why we pay a TV licence in the UK. What it has above everything else is the 'how did they do that!?' angle, not simply in terms of the way scenes are shot, but the scenes themselves. The series promises and delivers on this front.
I have this series on blu ray, which to be honest is a little too much at times on the detail front, but for the most part makes the experience all the better.
A perfect documentary series.
Summary: Outstanding. A benchmark.
