Pokémon, a program about little animals with special powers that live in little balls. I really should hate something with this description, but for some strange reason, I just can?t help but love it. Despite it being aimed at kids, I know a lot of people, including me, who aren?t kids and love this program.

The program basically follows a small group of friends, Ash, Misty, Tracy, and of course, the lovable Pikachu, who are on a mission to collect badges so that Ash can fight in a Pokémon League. And, like all other adventure cartoons, there is the bad guys, Jessie, James and Meowth, otherwise known as Team Rocket, a group of thieves that steal Pokemon, who have a motto which you just can?t help but to love. There are 150 different kinds of Pokemon in the world, although with the new Pokémon Silver and Gold there are more, which Ash wants to catch to become the world?s greatest Pokémon master.

My first Pokémon experience was of the Game Boy kind, and I really did love it as a game, and then, I just had to watch the program to see what all the fuss is about. I think that most people find it good because of the fighting, which just rules, it is almost as good as watching WWF. The way that these little animals have powers such as fire, ice and electricity is just such a great idea.

The animation in the program is also very good, you just have to love the way the camera slows down and move around The Matrix style when an attack is landed. And the way that these adorable creatures talk, only being able to pronounce their names (except for Team Rockets Meowth), is just so good, especially the high pitched Pikachu.

There have been two films made so far, Pokémon: The First Movie, and Pokémon: The Movie 2000, the second one is only just out now. I have seen the first one, and it was pretty OK, but it could have been better as it is not at the standard of the TV program. And I am lookng forward to seeing the second movie, as the clips mak
e it look pretty good, as this one is about the three rare bird Pokémon, Articuno (who controls ice), Moltress (who controls fire) and Zapdos (who controls electricity). The first movie was about the rarest Pokémon of them all, Mew and its cloned and genetically modified version, Mewtwo, who battle it out to save the world.

I think that the phenomenon that is Pokémon has started to go downhill as it has been a very long time since the old series finished, and there is still no new series. I am getting bored of watching repeats, and I think that a lot of people who like Pokémon are starting to get bored of it, but apparently Sky 1 are showing the new series in January, which I shall be looking forward to.

I think that most people look at the name Pokémon and think, ?what a load of s**t, who in their right mind would like something like this?, I am not complaining, as I was one of those people, that is until I witnessed it for myself. It is unfortunate that people, who have never seen the program before, has labeled such a high quality program as being bad. And if you have never seen this program before, and don?t watch it because it has been labeled bad, you definitely should
