Advantages: Stories are well structured and feature the usual range of characters

Disadvantages: Nothing new here, although that's not necessarily a bad thing

Like the Royal Mail itself, it seems that our friend Postman Pat has been sacrificed at the alter of so-called modernisation and efficiency! Special Delivery Service indeed: make that an opportunity to market Pat to a new generation of children.
That said, once you get over the blatant attempt to churn out yet more products (Pat even flies a helicopter!), the episodes are actually quite reasonable. My youngest son (nearly two) watches them avidly, and my eldest son (nearly six) also finds them entertaining, particularly the addition of the sorting office and Pat's new vehicles.
The plots of each story offer nothing new, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. Pat interacts with the usual range of characters from Greendale, and the general themes of friendship, working hard and family relationships run throughout the DVD.
The extras are a little disappointing, but then younger children wouldn't be interested in these anyway.

Summary: A helicopter indeed! Bring back twice daily deliveries!
