Prime Ministers Question Time

Newest Review: ... tends to start off with condolences being given to the latest military personnel to have died in Afghanistan or Iraq. If the PM is unable to attend then the deputy PM Harriet Harman will answer the questions on his behalf. The leader of the opposition (the tory David Cameron at the moment) can ask 6 questions, and it is the exchanging of words in these questions that are often likened to a Punch and Judy show - Cameron asks a question, which should have a relatively simple answer, but Brown (the present Prime Minister) tends to bumble and fumble around not really giving a straight answer. The leader of the lib Dems Nick Clegg can ask 2 ... more

Prime Minister's Question Time (PMQs) has become a bit of a laugh in my opinion, rather than a serious political cross-exaination. Every wednesday all the MPs crowd into the House of Commons, some of them with questions to ask - the questions are already planned and as far as I am aware the Prime Minister has a chance to plan his answers. Recently PMQs tends to start off with condolences being given to the latest military personnel to have died in Afghanistan or Iraq. If the PM is unable to attend then the deputy PM Harriet Harman will answer the questions on his behalf. The leader of the opposition (the tory David Cameron at the moment) can ask ...  Read the complete review

I would say that I lead a rather random life. Friends, family, colleagues and debt collectors have trouble pinning me down during the week, as I only truly feel comfortable if I'm living amidst chaos. However, being the sad political hack that I am, all of the groups mentioned above know that there's one regular time in the week when they can get hold of me. Wednesday. Three o'clock. Prime Minister's Questions. This, for all those who have the good fortune of not being politicos, is the one opportunity in the week for the entire House of Commons to put Prime Minister Tony Blair to the test. At one time, Prime Minister's Questions (or ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Prime Ministers Question Time: Its question time, not always answer time. (372 words)

Prime Ministers Question Time (PMQs) is now only on once a week, as opposed to the two weekly installments under previous governments. Those of us used to having sport moved to suit TV executives may not realise this was a Blair idea, not a TV one (although the master of spin probably only wanted to look bad once a week). PMQs is constitutionally very important, although it may look like petty oneupmanship. The leader of the opposition gets six questions and the LibDem leader two. Backbenchers can try to catch the speakers eye, plus three or four off a pre-determined list can ask questions. This is the only time MPs have the chance to actually cross-examine the most ...  Read the complete review

I try and watch prime ministers questions as often as i can, but with it on in the early afternoon, it's not always possible. I like to watch it, because i like to listen to our leader Tony Blair and his looney ideas. But the main reason i watch, is William Hague, he is such an intelligent man, he alway's makes Tony Blair look like what he is a fool. He has the gift of the gab, he can be so funny he has the house in fits. If william Hague was a bit more appealing in he appearance i'm sure the conservatives would,nt have to many problems being re-elected. If you like to keep up with all the latest policys, and like ...  Read the complete review
