Advantages: good moral

Disadvantages: bit dated

WHAT IS IT ABOUT:
This sci-fi series focuses on Sam, a scientist who travels through time, becoming different people, and having to solve a mystery or stop impending trouble before 'leaping' on. The show ran five seasons from the late 80s to early 90s.

An example plot may be that Sam 'leaps' into the life of a woman who is the subject of racist attacks in 1930s USA, but manages to work through a situation to save the day and earn the respect of her tormentors.

WAS IT ANY GOOD:
Yet another childhood favourite, the strengths of this show are threefold:
1) The sci-fi link
Though often tenuous, this is a sci-fi show with enough sci-fi content and gadgetry (Ziggi) to make it interesting for the genre. Whilst a lot of the actual show content is character based drama, the underlying mysteries make it mentally intriguing enough to appeal to the sci-fi fan.

2) The 'leaping' part
Every episode, Sam became someone else, and half the fun was waiting for him to look in a mirror to see who he was. This basic special effect was enough to interest me as a kid, especially when it was a funny leap like jumping into a woman giving birth!

3) The moral
The overt message behind this show is that one person can make a real difference in the world, both on a large and a personal scale; by putting others first, you can do a great deal of good. This is a good message to be promoting, and helped give the show a real feel good vibe.

THE WORST BIT:
The annoying thing about it was the way that, after five years, they never solved the mystery of what the whole thing was about at the end. The show hinted at a God-like entity controlling Sam's leaps, but we never truly find out.

IN CONCLUSION:
A good sci-fi show for kids that promotes strong morals.

Summary: watch it
