Most people have heard of Rainbow, or at least are familiar with Zippy or George. It is a kids tv show which has found a place in our hearts and also in the halls of tv fame. Here are some reasons why I rate it so highly. * Geoffret the presenter was always very enthusiastic. There was never a moment when he seemed even the slightest bit down. His energy and enthusiasm washed off onto me * Geoffrey's wardrobe was always a thrill. He favoured bright colours and always looked amazing. I just about remember this show as I was very young when I watched it but I do have fond memories of the show and apparently according to my mother I was fascinated by one of the characters Bungle who was basically a bloke in a giant bears costume who was rather timid and very friendly. As a youngster I never realised how creepy the bloke in the show was, Jeffrey, he had a basin hair cut and was always smiling. Zippy was the naughty puppet who had a really wide mouth which could be zipped up and George sort of looked like a small Hippo and was very timid, in fact the three characters could have been based on the original three actors from Last of the Summer ... The Characters: Geoffrey- the presenter. Looked a bit like Star Wars' Mark Hamill on amphetamines. Had a habit of pretending to only realise the cameras were on a few seconds after the crew started recording. Cue "Oh! Hello there!" or "Oh! Didn't see you there!" Classic. George- the subject of many media student dissertations on the grounds of his supposedly ambiguous ... Read the complete review

In 1972, A Big Band of Colour Saved ITV's children's slot. 3 puppets and a human presenter brought entertainment to everyone in their show called Rainbow. It was known to be an english version of Sesame Street. ZIPPY: The star of the show, this is a weird looking puppet who has a rugby ball head and he loves showing off and eating sausages. He only has one arm. GEORGE: A pink hippo puppet who is shy and is always telling Zippy off. BUNGLE: This is the only character, apart from Geoffrey, who has any legs. Bungle is a big brown bear who is the sensible one. GEOFFREY: This is the human presenter, who does many ... Read the complete review
