Most people have heard of Rainbow, or at least are familiar with Zippy or George. It is a kids tv show which has found a place in our hearts and also in the halls of tv fame. Here are some reasons why I rate it so highly.

* Geoffret the presenter was always very enthusiastic. There was never a moment when he seemed even the slightest bit down. His energy and enthusiasm washed off onto me

* Geoffrey's wardrobe was always a thrill. He favoured bright colours and always looked amazing. He seemed to be at the cutting edge of eighties fashion

* Bungle was a super bear, big and friendly and with a rounded personality. He was the sensible one to the silly antics of Zippy and George

* Zippy was a great comic creation, a hilarious voice which could wind anyone up and that zip which meant he could be shut up whenever you felt like it

* George was very very camp and although this was never dwelt upon, it was obvious which way he 'leant'

* Musical numbers were a highlight from Rod Jane and Freddy. Jane was very pretty and always looked like she should be in Abba. Their songs were basic yet melodic

*The show ran for years before being pulled, you can buy it now on DVD
