Advantages: Very insightful for both owners and customers

At first, I was turned off by Gordon Ramsey's rather abrasive style in dealing with people. However, I think I am a convert! In a professional kitchen, it is obvious that there is an acute shortage of time. Mincing words is often just not an option. In these episodes, time getting the food to the kitchen is not the only issue, there is also only a short amount of time to save these businesses from impending closure. Gordon's passion for getting healthy good food to the customer in record time is contagious. The participants on the show have a wonderful learning opportunity: learning how to refine their cooking skills, how to keep the kitchen orderly and how to handle their expenses. Over the course of the show, they exhibit tremendous personal growth, both in skills and self-confidence. The viewers also can finally understand how one restaurant may succeed while another fails, even though they both have a basically delicious menu. It's a win-win scenario for everybody.

Summary: "Nightmares" ultimately answered many questions I had about the restaurant business.
