Advantages: Gordon Ramsay's language

Disadvantages: repetitive format when you've watched loads

The basic premise: Gordon Ramsay goes to a struggling restaurant, tells the chef the food is sh*t and the owner he's a wan*er. The owner kicks off and argues with Gordon, before giving into his proposals, and finally rejoicing when Gordon saves the restaurant from going down the pan, all in the space of a week.

Gordon Ramsay is an intriguing character. He first came onto our screens in the documentary 'boiling point' which followed his kitchen for a bit. The public was outraged at how much he swore and shouted, but Gordon said that was life in the kitchen. Gordon had learnt this behaviour from the intense Marco Pierre White, and found it the only effective way of running a fine dining restaurant. At the time of the documentary, Gordon had one Michelin Star, today he is the most famous and celebrated chef in the world. I didn't know until I read his autobiographies, but Gordon is not only a TV celebrity, but truly is one of the world's top few chefs, with a string of Michelin Stars to his name. He's a perfectionist workaholic, and this makes for great viewing when he goes to some crappy restaurant where no-one really cares.

After half a dozen series, the show is a bit predictable, but I still switch it on. Gordon's a bit like the Simon Cowell of cooking - he's aggressive, confrontational and blunt, but he's always right: I like those sorts of people.

The US version of the show is a bit more Hollywood-ised, but the basic premise is the same, and you can imagine just how some cocky Americans can clash with Gordon.

Over all, Gordon is one of the UKs finest, and I will watch anything with him in!

Summary: Gordon does what he's famous for
