Advantages: Great Narrating, Fantastic Action,
Disadvantages: None that I can see
For those of you who don't have access to Sky TV, you may want to give this review a miss. It is a bit like getting a visit to a chocolate factory but not being allowed to eat any chocolate!!!
Road Wars is another reality tv programme which is produced
by Raw Cut TV. You can catch it on Sky 1, 2 and 3 at different times. Best time to watch is after 9pm - but beware of repeats - there are many of them.
The programme actually started airing 6 years ago back in 2003. The programme follows Thames Valleys Road Proactive Policing Unit. When I say follow I mean just that. The camera man is in the car videoing all the footage of chases, arrests, etc. Really quite interesting. You actually feel as if you are in the car with them sometimes when you are going around corners in their car and being involved in high speed pursuits. Imagine having Road Wars in 3D it would be awsesome. I usually sit down and have a nice beer whilst watching.
The police cars they use vary but they mainly consist of High Performance unmarked 2.8L Turbo V6 PoliceSpecial Vauxhall Vectras. And in some cases they really need them in their high speed pursuits. Other times when they are chasing Ford Fiesta they may not.
It is not surprising that I have seen many of these repeated as there has actually only ever been 88 recorded, and bearing in mind I watch it most nights, I can understand why.
Series 1 - 6 episodes, first shown from 26 July 2003
Series 2 - 6 episodes
Series 3 - 8 episodes
Series 4 - 8 episodes
Series 5 - 20 episodes, first shown from 8 May 2007
Series 6 - 20 episodes, first shown from 3 March 2008
Series 7 - 20 episodes, first shown from 17th February 2009.

Another interesting part of the show is the narrator Chris Boardman. He makes the program really interesting with his one liners. Those of you who watch Coronation Street may remember Chris Boardman acting as a thug called 'Quigley'.
The programme usually tells you what happened to those who are caught. Examples of a 17 year old travelling at 100 mile an hour in a 30 mph area, with no insurance and tax, getting slapped wrist from the courts and a £50 fine really infuriate me. It explains why these kids really carry on in the way they do.
Great Programme. Well worth viewing.
Summary: A great programme for after 9pm
