Ross Kemp on gangs is a TV series orginally broadcast on Sky before being repeated on terrestrial TV. It is a series of real life documentaries filmed in many countries, focusing on Ross Kemps efforts to track down and find out the truth about gang culture in the modern day. This is one of Ross Kemp's many projects since he has left his character Grant Mitchell behind in Eastenders. However to make this TV series successful he has had to play on a little bit of the hardman image he had before.

The thing that strikes me about this series is how 'real' it is. It doesn't appear to be staged or dramatised. You follow a very real curiousity from Ross Kemp as the presenter and investigator trying to get to the bottom of what is going on.

Ross Kemp travels, followed by his camera crew, and no doubt a whole host of researchers, to various countries. These include the UK, Africa and Russia. He picks the countries most notourious for gang culture and crime rates. Once he is in the area he shows you some background research and shows harrowing conditions which the residents live in. Interviews with victims are featured, showing the real life impacts of what is going on.

The episode usually culminates with Ross managing to interview or speak to one or more gang members. Now this is no mean feat, most of these gangs have never been interviewed before and this is where is becomes very scary and Ross Kemp shows his brave side!

My personal favorite has to be the episode featuring the numbers gangs in prison. Its well worth a watch.

This series is not for the faint hearted, what the gang members get up to is not nice, and these programmes do not gloss over it. Prepare to be shocked!

Summary: Not for the faint hearted!
