Roswell: The show formerly known as Roswell High... Now in its third and last season I thought I'd give a little opinion on the hit American TV show. Background ********** Max, Michael and Isabel are from up north, way up north, like another galaxy north. They were former royalty of their home planet; Antar, but were all tragically killed when Isabel (as her past life alter-ego Velendra) betrayed Max (the King) and Michael by having a secret relationship with the king?s rival; Kivar. Velendra helped Kivar by giving him snippets of information about the king and his game-plan, to get rid of him. So Kivar, now with the knowledge of this impending attack, started an immense war, ravaging the entire planet ? killing Max, Michael and Isabel. King-less Kivar took advantage of this and became Antar?s new leader. The last followers of Max and his mission took his, Michael and Isabel?s DNA and mixed it with humans DNA, forming alien hybrids , and put them in a protective pod in a spaceship, sending them on a one way journey. Destination: Earth. The spaceship crashed into Roswell, New Mexico? Storyline & The Loves of New Mexico ******************************* The trio are now living ordinary lives in Roswell, well, as ordinarily that can be expected by a group of aliens, with only a few people friends that know of their extraordinary secrets. Within the show many relationships have developed, fallen through etc. giving a very realistic look on a very unrealistic background. Max & Liz The first love that has developed has been a constant throughout the show. From the first episode a love has been growing between Max and Liz. Liz is the first person to find out about the groups out-of-this-world talents, as Liz is caught in the crossfire between a robber and a restaurant owner and is left with a fatal wound, Max is horrified by Liz?s gunshot wound and uses his alien powers to heal and save her. From then on they
were the cliché lovers that every TV programme boasts, the unconditional lovers, now star-crossed after the opening season 3 episode; Busted, where Max and Liz are arrested for armed robbery, on the course to find out about a spaceship stored underneath a convenience store. Now Liz has been forbidden to even make eye contact with Max, giving her all the more reason to live a Romeo & Juliet style life. Max & Tess Tess was a secret fourth to the royalty, it is only in the second season where Max finds out that his wife on Antar was a girl called Tess, and she is out there somewhere, the fourth alien out of the pod. Tess returns to Roswell after her protector is killed finding the others, re-uniting the Royal Four. After a ?break-up? with Liz after the school prom Max turns to Tess in need, they both share one night of passion, resulting in her becoming pregnant; only the baby won?t survive on the earth?s atmosphere. Then, after learning this the four get ready to leave earth and head back home, but after being informed that Tess had been notified to bring the three back to Antar, so Kivar could get rid of them once and for all, and that she had killed the group?s friend Alex for finding out this information, Tess escapes from earth, still pregnant. Max is dedicated to getting back his son once and for all? Michael & Maria This couple is the ?reality? couple. I?m sure everyone can relate to them. They have their fights, they kiss and make up and fight again. Their relationship is not star-crossed, they simply are what they are, and I think that?s what makes their relationship different to most TV shows. It?s not all about glamour and relationships that never go bad, it?s about the REAL feelings that REAL people have. Isabel & Jesse Isabel and Jesse are the typical newlyweds; passionate, nervous and secretive. Only the secret is not so typical. Isabel is struggling with her secret; to tell or not to tell. Only she fears for Jesse?
s life; the last person she almost loved was lost through knowing too much. This is when its really clear that the group is not flaunting their secret to everyone, and do care for the safety of those they love, as well as their own. Isabel & Alex This relationship was no so much love, but a very developed ?crush?. Alex was the first person Isabel ever felt such feelings for and that most of us can relate to ? a first love. Conclusion ********* Roswell is not only a good TV show for it?s notably good storylines, or it?s beautiful faces (Shiri Appleby), but for the hidden reality that we can find and relate to in it?s episodes and relationships. I would definitely recommend this show to others, as there are aspects of it that we can all like ? that I?m sure of. A must-see show! Jason Behr ? Max Evans Brendan Fehr ? Michael Guerin Katherine Heigl ? Isabel Evans Shiri Appleby ? Liz Parker Majandra Delfino ? Maria De Luca Adam Rodriguez ? Jesse Ramirez William Sadler ? Jim Valenti Nick Wechsler ? Kyle Valenti Colin Hanks ? Alex Whitman Season Three episodes are currently airing on Sky One: Thursday at 8 p.m. Watch!
