Rugrats is an American animated television series that was started in 1991 and ran for not too far off two hundred episodes over nine seasons. It was incredibly popular in it's day and I have to admit it took me a while to get into it as I've always preferred the likes of the muppets, but once I did I did really enjoy it and it was quite entertaining. The show focuses on four babies and their every day lives which normally involve common life experiences that become adventures in the babie's minds.
In a similar way to the likes of Toy story these babies talk when grown ups aren't around. It revolves around a group of children whose family have moved from Ohio to California. The toddlers all communicate with each other through baby talk, but we as the viewer can understand them as it's all translated. The group is often joined somewhat reluctantly by Tommy's cousin, Angelica Pickles. As she is three years old she can understand both the toddlers and adults alike.
The main characters are Tommy who is the leader of the gang and also thinks he is the bravest. He regularly gets out of the play pen by using a screwdriver and this when he has the adventures and gets to explore. Chuckie is the cat who is scared of everything. Phil and Lil are the twins who like to eat bugs.
Then there is Dil who is Tommy's brother and Angelica, who is Tommy's older cousin and is nasty to the babies most of the time.
Together they all make up the Rugrats and are very enjoyable to watch and the show is great fun.
Summary: Overall, a great cartoon for kids
