Advantages: very funny, great storylines & special effects, great characters
Disadvantages: none yet - they must have been magically removed!
Dispite being 21 years old, one of my favourite shows on television is 'Sabrina the Teenage Witch'. It shows on Nickelodian every weekday from 5 to 6pm and also on weekend mornings. It it also shown regularly on both CITV, and Ant & Dec on Saturday mornings. It is about an American high school student who, on her 16th birthday, finds out that she is half witch on her father's side. Sabrina, played by Melissa Joan Hart, struggles to come to terms with this new life style thrust upon her. She goes to live with her 2 witch aunts Hilda & Zelda in Boston. The house is also occupied by a black cat named Salem Saberhagen, a warlock who was sentanced to 100 years as a cat as punishment for trying to take over the mortal world. Salem is hilarious, always eating and coming out with sarcastic wise cracks. Sabrina steadily grows more comfortable with her status as a witch, and learns how to use her powers. She has a boyfriend called Harvey, who is a football fan and is desperate to get onto the schools first team. He is constantly being caught up in Sabrina's magic, but because no-one mortal is allowed to know about her magic, he is always being given potions to remove his memory. He is therefor, usually walking around in a state of confusion. Sabrina's best friend is Valery. She too is new to Boston and is deperately insecure and longs to be popular. However, the top popular girl is Libby Chessler, a spoilt rich kid who hates Sabrina with a vengence, and is always trying to steal Harvey away from her. Over the years, Libby has been turned into a vast array of things from a pineapple to a goat to a jigsaw! Sabrina has a 'quiz-master' who is forever appearing to give her spot tests on her magic. She needs to pass these tests to get her witches licence. Sabrina's aunts do their best to guide her wisely. Zelda is the stable influence. She has a passion for science and longs to i
nvent something to help the world. Hilary, though, is a scatter brained party girl, who is worshiped by Sabrina's somewhat odd school vise-presedent Willard Craft. Sabrina keeps me in stitches with her constantly getting herself into outragious situations. The script-writers have had her zooming over town on her vacume, baking bread on the lonesome prairie and shrunk to doll size and held captive by her evil niece in a doll's house! I never get tired of watching these shows. I have never watched an episode that I haven't enjoyed. The acting is great, as are the special effects. If this is a kids show, I hope I never grow up!
