Witches or Vampires???

The ongoing fad of teen tv shows streaming into the uk from America is at best tolerable but I mean why do these shows try to make out they are anything more than silly polite shows that take up 45 minutes of some silly teenage boy who dreams about sleeping with the main character or girls who wish they had the ?cool? attitude of the main character. To take two examples ?Sabrina the teenage witch? a perfectly nice show which aims at an audience of 10-16 year olds and the jokes in it are obviously good ones as it is a successful show on children?s TV, however you have a show like ?Buffy the Vampire Slayer? Which could by it?s title be mistaken for an exact copy with different names and creatures, however this is not the case as Buffy is aimed at the older generation of maybe 15-18 with the odd bored 25 year old watching it. This to me is the perfect opportunity to apply some good effects some realistic dialogue and the odd creepy monster but they fall flat on their face with a pre watershed start time they cannot use bad language or make the content too scary which to me defeats the purpose of being a show about vampires and other horrible terrifying monsters. I mean if it was to go for an adult audience and show more adult content it would certainly be a much more satisfying show however as it is the only thing it seems to achieve is younger audience being disappointed that it doesn?t contain many silly little stories that are funny like Sabrina and the older audience seeing it as an unrealistic and rather pointless show. The Main benefits of having shows like this seem to be that if you ever have a desire to waste 45 minutes of your life or would like to be frustrated by stupid characters that are clones of the main characters then Buffy?s your show. If however you would like to watch a show that is nothing more than the silly humour it was intended to be then watch Sabrina. I however, like myself, you ever feel l
ike seeing some quality horror then rent out one of the evil dead movies or one of the many halloween series.
