When I first watched this program I thought it was stupid. But when I actually watched it properly I couldn’t stop laughing. Its Brilliant.

Now about to start its 5th Series Sabrina The Teenage Witch has been a huge hit both in England and in America where it is Made.

Sabrina (Melissa Joan Hart, also the star of the sit-com Clarissa Explains it all) is a normal teenager. Until on her 16th Birthday she gains her magical powers and becomes a witch. She lives with her two aunts Hilda and Zelda. They are both brilliant characters with in themselves. Hilda is the fun loving care free aunt that everyone would love to have as their own while Zelda is the more grown up and responsible of the two. Put together they are just MAGICAL. She also has a pet cat (who talks) called Salem. He used to be a witch but when he tried to take over the world he was turned into a cat as a punishment.

Sabrina goes to school at West Bridge High with her friends (who varies from time to time). She also has a boyfriend called Harvey. Sabrina is not very popular at school. She is hated by the most popular girl in the school Libby and even by her vice principle Mr Kraft.

Now life as a witch sounds fun does it not. But there are rules. Sabrina’s magic is tested frequently by her quizmaster until she gets her witches license, (which she gets in series 4). If you abuse your magic you get summoned to the Witches Counsel. This is a court, which assess your punishment. So don’t think that being a witch is all fun.

So what makes this program so good because at the moment it seems complicated? Well it’s a comedy. Things go wrong that you can’t help but laugh at or feel sorry for. Sabrina is a witch in training. Her spells normal go terribly wrong. Or they go terribly right. She is a witch with attitude and you don’t want to be in her bad books (or magic books).

You may not be intrigued. You may think this sounds s
till and unbelievable. Well that’s the joy of the program. Its not meant to be taken seriously. I would rank this aside with the classic magical comedy Bewitched or I dream of Genie.

If you want to take a closer look then tune in to ITV every week day (in school terms) at 4.45 or Nickelodeon every weekday in September at 5 (It’s Sabrina September). Nick is also playing a Sabrina film every Thursday, which are well worth a look from the two I have seen (Sabrina the Teenage Witch and Sabrina goes to Rome).

Hope I’ve convinced you to watch.
Sara
