My boyfriend does not like this while I love it so it is safe to say that this is the sort of American comedy that will appeal to women more than men, a bit like Desperate Housewives and Brothers and Sisters.
Christina Applegate stars as the lead role of Sam, a young woman based in Chicago who loses her memory after a hit and run accident and the storyline effectively follows her attempt to regain her past and learn about herself again. A bit like My Name is Earl Sam also tries to make up for any of the bad deeds she has done in her previous life. She is a bit of a ditsy character and a nice side to her however you are also aware that she has a dark side as well.
Barry Watson plays Todd her ex-boyfriend who is now back in her life following the accident. There are a range of other characters as well who help proivide some laughs but primarily this is a vehicle for Applegate to shine.
The show is on E4 in half hour segments and there is a continual storyline to the show with regads to her regaining her memory which makes for some awkward situations. The humour and dialogue is very sharp and there is an innocent vulnerability about Sam that I really like.
I think this show has a lot of potential to it and could run for a long time depending on how well it is received in the US however E4 may have uncovered another little diamond here.
Summary: American sitcom
