Whilst this is a Steve Coogan show, I believe that the scene stealer in Saxondale, is Vicky played by Morweena Banks. Vicky hands out the pest control jobs to Tommy so he has to be polite to her, but every time they get together she makes catty comments, and she definately gets the better of Tommy on every encounter. ... more

I have written on here before that I am a huge fan of Steve Coogan, and so if he is in something I have to watch it. Overall, "Saxondale" is a bit more of a love it or hate sort of Steve Coogan show. I really liked it (though I must admit I found it funnier when I watched it for a second time around) but I have friends \ family who just didn't get it. The humour is a bit more subtle in parts and if you enjoyed the lighter parts of the dark comedy "Nighty Night" or "Spaced" I would class this as a similar sort of humour. Thursday 9:30pm...... I just can’t get into Saxondale. I’m a huge fan of Steve Coogan, and with Rick Mayall guesting in the opening episode of series two, I was determined to give it another go. The opener wasn’t bad, but I still don’t get it. It’s a bit like the Mitchell & Web Show in that I get the jokes, how ever subtle and clever they are, but I’m still not laughing. I suspect a lot of students howl at the later and then a similar amount of much older ex students giggle at Saxondale, but for me I don’t do polite giggles. If I don’t get it I don’t laugh.
