Advantages: Funny!, Scary! (not), Corny!

Disadvantages: erm.....the kids always have the same outfits...dont they change?, No scooby snacks for sale in shops... :(

There were several series of Scooby Doo. My personal favourite was "Scoocy and Scrappy Doo", but the other series included "Scooby Doo Where are you" (that had a cool theme tune - i'll go into that later!) and "Scooby Doo and the Mystery Club". THe latter of the titles mentioned starred Scooby Doo, Shaggy (scoobys owner)Fred,Velvma and Daphne.
In case you didnt know already, Scooby Doo is a brown dog (im not sure of the breed - a Dane?) who can talk to a certain extent.
HIs speech is impeded by his cowardly tone and his tendency to slur his words into beginning with "r"s - "Raggy! Rheres a ghrost!!"
Both Scooby and his owner are cowards - yet they are always tagging along with the rest of the mystery club - in their funky old van!
In the mystery club series, they were always called to a scene of mystery - to solve some sort of supernatural event - of course there is ALWAYS a perfectly reasonable explanation - usually involving someone close to the person who initiated the cry for help!! Also, there is usually a scary costume and a freak accident that leads to Scooby unmasking the perpertrator of the crime!! Not to mention "I'd have got away with it if it werent for you pesky kids!!"

The mystery club are also featured in the series of "Scooby Doo where are you" - probably the best animated out of all the various series. This title had a catchy theme tune that played on another usual phrase - "scooby doo where are you" - normally asked after the lights go out in a castle!!! hmm...nostalgia! Scooby Dooby doo! Where are you? We've got some work to do now!

-back to reality! - My favourite show - the scooby and scrappy adventures is currently being shown on CITV (well it was last week!).
Scooby and his nephew scrappy (not forgetting shaggy) arent always called to solve a mystery - they usually cause trouble - due to their stupidity and clums
iness and inadvertedly stumble across some sort of mystery. Then Srappy, being the brave little puppy that he is will drag the reluctant scooby and shaggy into the midst of a crime and they will then run away from monsters. AND- as in all the other titles, scooby accidently unmasks the culprits and saves the day!!
It is this accidental-hero approach that this series takes on Scooby that I like the most! Scrappy is very gullible and innocent and I love his cry of "Tadatadatada! PPuppy! PPower!". It is usually his brave stands that get the trio into trouble!!
Shaggy plays a larger role in this series too. His constant shoutings of "Zoinks!" is more appreciated than Velma's "jinkies!" and he is often used to great comical effect when he is dressed up in drag, or disguised in those fake "roll up! roll up!" circus acts!!
Characters - typical kids for the 60s-80s. Mostly clean cut! Scooby is a typical goofy character, but his stupid giddy behaviour (and his food-obsession)outshines the actual Goofy by far!
ANimation - quite good actually! Not as good as ome of todays offerings, but it got the point across didnt it?
SOund -excellent. The characters all sound unique. Shaggy and Scooby's voices are clssics!
Hanna Barbera have made many cartoons - especially crime-solving antics, based on a similar formula - kids + creature mascot.
However, the Scooby Doo series is the only one that ever made an impact on me! Its jokes, silly antics and cowardly screams make a perfect kid-detective show, without any gruesome details! It is perfect for kids, but now that I'm about to goto university, I find myself still enjoying the show - and I probably will continue to do so for some many years to come!
