Advantages: Funnty, charming and well acted

Disadvantages: None

Set in the Sacred Heart hospital, this is a long running television comedy with Zach Braff as its eponymous hero, he play's John Dorian (JD), a young intern who wants to be a doctor, the programme follows him and his friends, Turk (A young surgeon), Turk's girlfriend, Carla, JD's friend and sometime love interest Elliot, the Janitor.

The series has been on for a number of years and is still as funny as ever, the series has a huge amount of slapstick, from the useless hospital lawyer and his actually pretty cool barbershop quartet to the sexually predatory Todd, who also seems to have a quiet interest in the guys.

The programme is funny, but being based in a hospital there are often bad or sad things happening, the humour can be bittersweet there can be some really lovely monologues, mainly from JD about life, friendships and love.

I love this programme, it has a lot of heart and soul, Zach Braff is fantastic as JD, the other characters are all superb and the mix of characters are so good they are a great ensemble.

JD is the hero, a camp, emascualted man who can be amazing or rubbish with the ladies and is bullied by the janitor, his mentor, Dr Cox and pretty much everyone else.

His best friend Turk is a funky young guy who is unnaturally attached to JD and they are a great double act and really really funny on their own or together.

Dr Cox is a great character and beneath the gruff exterior and brash attitude he really cares for his charges.

The programme has a real air of the surreal about it, some of the ideas are out of the box, they are so outlandish but often hilarious, the programme is always a really enjoyable half hour, there are many guest appearances, with Colin Farrell, Heather Graham, Tara Reid, Brendon Fraser and Michael J Fox amongst those appearing.

The show is regularly on E4 and although the shows are out of order they are a cracking watch as you can dip in and out and there are so many jokes, some will hit the spot. The programme is wonderful and while some people hate it, I know if I need a laugh this is always worth checking out!

Summary: A touching, funny comedy with charm and personality
