Shameless is a programme that is on channel four and is set in the chapsworth estate ! The basis of the programme is a Neighbourhood of Socially unacceptable people mainly based around a family called The gallagher family.

The dad, frank gallager is a complete waste of space and spends his time drinking in the local and is not father material at all! He is an amusing charachter and is played really well. He is not someone to look up to but occasionally you get a glimpse of his love for his children and it is moving for someone that shows so little care to most things that happen to or around him! His daughter Debbie on the other hand is completly different and is soo mature, not really sure how she managed it but she didn't learn her social skills from her parents. I admire her charachter and how within such a chaotic environment she has developed some self esteem and self worth. It is often her leading the family away from difficult situations and she is very much involved in the raising of the children.

The programme focuses on a member of the family and each eisode has a focus on one of the family members dysfunctional lives

This drama is funny and also has some serious points however these are covered in a comical way so that it is light.

It is on par with jeremy kyle for the issues that it covers however it is less cringeworthy as it is based on a story rather then peoples lives. There is an innercity feel to the programme and it is emotional at times. as well as covering current issues and raising debates within society it is interesting to consider others in these positions.
