Shame on you if you have never seen this (Shameless)

Advantages: Funny and well acted

Shameless has been running for six series now and it is one of the funniest shows that Channel Four have ever shown, whats more it has been consistently funny over the entire six series and there are plans in placefor a seventh. The show is all about the lives of the Gallagher family who live on a Manchester sink estate called the Chatsworth Estate. To be honest it could just as well be about the Gallagher brothers from Oasis as there is plenty of drinking, fightig and drug taking in the show.

Head of the Gallagher clan is work shy alcoholic and general scruff bag Frank whose shambling approach to life centres around getting enough money to go to the pub and get drunk, the other main family on the estate are the Maguires a ough Irish family who are all for the most part into crime and can be quite violent as well.

This show is funny however the last series got a bit more serious which is a shame I think because the lighter moments were what made this show so popular with many people, myself included.

The acting is brilliant and while the cast may change over the years the quality remains high.

The show has covered just about every issue immaginable over the years, homosexuality, drugs, teenage pregnancy and sex with a strap on (one of the funniest episodes as Frank was on the receiving end) so the themes are quite adult in nature hence the post watershed time slot this show has.

If you have yet to sample the delights of the Gallagher family and the Chatsworth Estate then it is well worth getting the first series on DVD or looking out for re-runs on the TV as it is great entertainment.
