Advantages: high-class, high-action story lines

Disadvantages: on at the wrong time of day

A soap. Yes. But not just any soap. This amazing feat of television manages to combine the touching stories of people’s lives and emotions with gritty medical drama. The only problem is that because so few people have really appreciated this fabulous program it has been moved to join other under-appreciated mid-day T.V. meaning myself, and millions of others like me, could only watch it with the aid of a video recorder.

Shortland Street has the very best of story lines. My personal favourite being when Rachel, the bossy, good looking, ex-alcoholic receptionist got hit by a bolt of lightening and fell in love with Nick, the dopey, greasy, long-haired, pizza munching student, who, incidentally, looks scarily like the guy from the chemical brothers. And even if you don’t find stories like this good, you’ve got to at least find them slightly amusing.

This is one program that just isn’t worth missing. Ever.

Surely some of the most overlooked television in this century! Wait for a story to unfold? Why no! Drug addictions come and go! People live and die! All in the space of a week! Or even a day! Very contemporary actually. A place where marriage is a temporary setback, love an irregular occurence, and death is only a phenomenon that never really seems to happen, or happens all to often. Hurrah! The writers must drink far too much! I should be one..

I am afraid such enthusiasm reads sarcastically for it is so implausible. Yet, sadly, I know the truth! :(
