The Simpsons has to be one of the best animation shows that has come out of america. It is shown on both channel 4 and sky 1, but the only disadvantage of this is that the episodes that are shown on channel 4 tend to be repeats, whereas the ones on sky 1 are new episodes from new seasons. Because it is an animation, the show cant really be taken that seriously, which is why it tends to be extremely funny.

The whole show revolves around the lives of the simpson family, and their werid behavour in the town of springfield. Homer, who is the father in the family, is a fat, lazy man who is also doing crazy, and often illegal things, for example, beating up former president Bush senior. He is much like his son, Bart who is very mischivious, and is always getting into trouble at school and often finds himself in detention, which is clearly seen in the opening credits of the show. Marge, Homer's wife and their daughter Lisa, seem to be the only normal one's in the family, and although Maggie, the baby, seems really quiet, she does shoot Mr Burns. Looking at the bigger picture, it does seem that Homer is more of a child, than an adult.

There are many other characters other than the simpson family in springfield, and therefore, each episode in full of laughter, as these characters are so varied in their nature. One of the recurring themes in this show is the fact that many well known a-list actors and celebrity often guest star in every other episode, even our own prime minister Tony Blair starred in an episode.

The funniest thing about this show is the fact that it so varied in its humour. Every episode you will be rolling around on the fall with laughter. One thing that I will say is that the film was a great disappointment, not to be repeated, just stick to TV. Over the years, this show has deeloped so much, and I hope that the show continues for a very long time.
