Simpsons. In my opinion - the best cartoon tv show there is.
Its been big for a long time. It first became big with the selling feature of Bart - every kid wanted a "do the bartman" tshirt or something similar. But the continial selling status has bben kept due to the absolutely brilliant character of Homer with the catch"word" 'DOH!'
The simpsons family are known all over the world and the show is translated into numerous languages.
Homer is popular as being a dumb father. He is the stereotypical american fat lazy and stupid. but catches us with great lines. One of my favourites being when being told about the warnings of eye laser surgery - homer shouts "Less Yapping, More Zapping".
Bart still has the old humour to pull along a storyline with inane acts of childhood thuggery along the way - killing a bird, throwing stuff at cars and people etc.

The main character are fantastic and funny but what appeaks to me more are those extra character that come along.
Nelson - whyo has the catchphrase 'haw-haw!' and will punch kids in the stomach for more or less no reason.
Mr Krabaple(spelling)- has a special laugh as well as always saying sexual referenced phrases and being known for having a lot in common with a town bike.
Troy McLure- the local celebrity who is in every film or educational broadcast with the saying "HI, i'm Troy McClure- you may remember me from such ********* as ******** '
there are so many character developed from the town of springfield Apu, Moe, Barney ..ect
my personal favourite outside character is Gil - the dodgy salesman. He is seen every few episodes, he has been a estate agent, car salesman and even worked in the KwikEmart. He is always trying in his pathetic own way to "get a sale".

The Simpsons is the best cartoon show, Homer, Bart and the rest of the family are the basis of its staying power, but without these extra cha
racters the show wouldn't be near as good as it is.
