Advantages: The best cartoon ever, Welove you Homer
Disadvantages: Repeats
Like the Thalaban, it looks like BBC2 has banned entertainment if you look at their winter schedule. We have had the tedious new Steve Cougan project and Linda bloody Green. So it thank goodness billyo for the worlds most popular, and repeated cartoon show. It was voted number one entertainment show in Channel Fours excellent list show and has won over three hundred awards. We all love Homer and every guy wants to be him. The dumber you are then the less you worry about, and that cant be a bad thing, can it guys. The head of the animation family shares the honor with the jellyfish as the only living thing without a noticeable brain. But like the polar bear, Homer can smell a burger from twenty miles away. This guy eats more than Vanessa Feltz!. Mondays at six p.m. is generally a depressing time for most with the whole working week ahead. But a Simpson’s repeat isn’t a bad way to avoid the latest world war three news. Soon as you hear that theme tune you know a laugh is just a heartbeat away. Occasionally the Monday slot will flip up some of those really old episodes where Homers head is a different yellow, and his voice very low. The family to hadn’t quite bedded in with the angular hairstyles slightly orf. We did have a bad run at the start of the week with the same old episodes on all the time. The “who killed Mr Burns and the Marge goes shop lifting one seemed to be on every week. Fridays has started throwing up fresh ones that I haven’t seen, which is the main reason im writing this short review. Most of you think that its all reruns their, but im here to tell you that it ain’t so. All you Sky junkies have of course seen all the new stuff and would never venture to the BBC2 slot, unless your warming up for the brilliant Robot Wars. Friday yet again had two new shows, which of course were very funny and dangerously sharp. The second episode about the buried a
ngel skeleton was superb and topical as it tackled blatant commercialism. The seraphim was planted by the local megamall company who used it as a publicity stunt to promote the Springfield outlet mall. It’s the only adult/kids carton in America that is actually sprinkled with Irony (they take the p**s out of themselves), oh bar the nearly as good Hank Hill. Homers quote of the day this week was “trying is that first step to failure”. I don’t know if Matt Groneburg wrote that gem or it’s a well-known saying, but its bloody brilliant. I love the way they have a pop at the networks on the show as fantasy teases the real world. You wonder why the lawyers don’t come down on them like a ton of bricks. Another thing that makes me chuckle is that the voice of MR Burns is the mustachioed base player from Britain’s most famous rock band in “Spinal Tap”. The writing is sharper than Stephen Frys pen and more probing than John Holmes. The characters represent the worst and most gullible of the human race with most of us knowing at least one Flanders, did you see those happy clappy types when the hostages got released in Afghanistan!. Imagine if Chief Wycombe was responsible for running those speed cameras. The manic school head that loves with his mum is the supreme irony. Would you like to scrub Aunt Selmas feet, oooooow. How true is that when relatives try to put you down at every chance. I think Homer should do the queens speech from now on don’t you. The man who blows up to three hundred pound to go on invalidity benefit to doss work,is a man worth respecting in cartoon world.
