Advantages: Looked like my Dad!

Disadvantages: Found out, he wasn't my Dad.

As a small boy growing up in the 1970's, there were few programs that I really remember as fondly as the Six Million Dollar Man. Firstly, he looked just like my Dad. I thought it was my Dad.

I wondered in amazement at the way he could bend steel, and run in slow motion and take his arm off (not that this happened all that regularly, just stuck in my mind, that's all, I was six after all, what do you expect for a child that age........) and so on. There seemed no end to his super human capabilities, and I loved him. He was my hero, and I couldn't wait for the next episode. How he came to be this kind of super freak, I didn't know or care.

I was never into the Incredible Hulk, too frightening, plus, not allowed to watch it. Charlies Angels were good in their day, but not so good now. Think they've taken out all the good bits. Seems rather tacky and unbelievable. But, my favourite, was Six Million Dollar Man! There was also the six million dollar woman, I think, but not nearly as good as Six Million Dollar Man!

As for the plotlines, I don't remember any. How many episodes I watched? Er, not sure. I was only six, I just told you! I couldn't tell you anything else about the series, except that it starred Lee Majors. I don't think Lee Majors has been in anything else so important to his career since those great days of the 1970's. (Where is he now?) He did do a series in the early 80's called The Fall Guy, but, not so gripping as Six Million Dollar Man! All the children at school used to talk about him and try to run in slow motion like he did.

As for anyhting else about the show, I can't remember, except that alongside it was Wonderwoman, another fantastic escape from reality, which for me was school. But, the habds down winner for me was Six Million Dollar Man!

Oh! And he looked just like my Dad!
