Disadvantages: Nobody in the pub can talk about British arms sales to the Afghan terrorists in Dundee.

Posh and Beck, Man. United, show-business- that's the BBC news. (I've just been watching Top of the Pops and it started with what sounded like four letter words and the habit associated with Onan). Whatever happened to the BBC? Why so few foreign news reports and serious stories? A mate of mine thinks it's a plot to produce a dumb world of addicts, a world of bread and circuses. I don't believe it. I think they just need to sack the DG and the governors and the Home Secretary. BBC news on the internet has reasonably informed reports from around the world, but they don't get onto the main TV news broadcasts. I think we should know that children are dying in hospitals in the Third World because of a lack of medicine, while Britain exports arms. We should know why UN soldiers have died in Timor (The US has warned of a new war in East Timor). We should know what's happening in Ecuador and Mali and even Dundee. When was the last time there was a news story from Dundee? It is my firm belief that if the Media produce dumb programmes (like the six o clock news) then the world will become a dumber place. I have become much dumber since watching BBC programmes. Things are even worse in the USA. Many Americans cannot find England on a map, which is worrying when you think of their nuclear missiles. I hope that nice Mr Dyke reads this and saves his job by improving the Six o clock news immediately.
