Advantages: funny, different
Disadvantages: some episodes are better than others
Skins, skins, skins... Its all we heard about on adverts and in conversations for a while. I bet some of you were wondering what it was, well I will try to help you to distiguish this and to see if you would like to watch in the future.
//When is it on?//
Skins is usually on, on thursdays on E4 or just recently it was changed to Channel 4 due to high demand. Its not on for the moment however as they are currently filming for another series for the new year. However it is available on DVD, should you wish to purchase it.
//Who would want to watch it?//
Well to be honest, it depends on personal choice. It appealed to me as it was advertised well and was about people my age. I like to watch things about people my age so that I can analyse other people reflections on the youth of today.
If you like comedy's id recommend it or if you want to see something completly over the top.
//How many series are there?//
Currently there are two series out and available to buy. The first series in my opinion was a lot better than the second and you would have to watch them in order to gain an understand of what was going on as the episodes very much follow each other. The third series is currently being filmed by an entirely new cast- not sure how that will work out. My guess is that it will be a new college year, hense new people but I could be wrong! This series will be out in the new year as far as I am aware.
//What is SKINS about?//
Skins is about a group of close friends who attend college together to participate in taking their A levels. The show takes a member each week and that episode revolves around them and their problems and what they do.
Expect to see things such as raves, drug taking, sex and house parties week in week out. A totally biased view about the youth of today- we really arent all like that! But it is fun to watch.
I wont go into too much detail as I dont wish to spoil it for people.
//Main characters?//
Tony:
The typical attractive one of the group, though most of them are as its TV etc. Tony is like top dog everyone looks up to him and he gets what he wants and if not, you'll know about it. He is played by the well known actor Nichollas Hault, who was in the film 'about a boy'. He is my favorie charactor due to his constant sarcasm.
Michelle:
Tonys on and off girlfriend. Played by April Pearson. Shes the girl that all the guys want etc and she knows it.
Sid:
Sid is the 'geek' of the group, gets himself in all sorts of situations with cassie and is also Tonys best friend. Sid is played by Mike Bailey.
Cassie:
She is pretty but anerexic and hates herself, she loves sid and vice versa. Shes a bit of a strange character, one to keep an eye on. Cassie is played by Hannah Murray
Jal:
The one who wants to do well but comes across a major obstrustion in the second series, played by Lasrissa Wilson.
Chris:
I like to refer to him as the druggy, he is always on something and has quite the sense of humour to him. He is played by Joeseph Dempsie
Maxxie:
Yep, hes the gay one, there had to be one in there and he has a passion for dance, hes very good at it too. Maxxie is played by Mitch Hewer.
Anwar:
He is the religious one whose family disapproves of a lot of things he does. He also gets himself in a few bad situations bless him. He is played by Dev Patel.
Effy:
This is Tonys little ''innercent'' sister who is a rebel but the family are unware. Word says that she is to be the only origional member of the third series which will be interesting to find out. She is played by Kaya Scodelario.
I would really recommend you watch this Tv series, it is entertaining and I love it. Admittedly some episodes are way better than others but its just so unbelievable what they get up to its brilliant!
Give it a try :)
Hope you enjoyed reading this review.
