The Show In General

Skins, as I'm sure most of you will know by now, is a show broadcast on E4 about a group of sixth formers from Bristol. Believable or not, this show definitely doesn't lack the power to draw people from all ages and walks of life in to watching! The first two series featured an entirely different cast so I wasn't too keen on watching this new series. But I have to say, I loved it! I would even go as far to say that it was better than the first two series! I'll write a bit about the main characters as the series has now finished.

The Main Characters

Cook
====================
Cook, real name James, is a cockey yet loveable character. He has been the main focus of several episodes in this series. He thinks that all the ladies love him which to a certain extent is true! The character of cook portrays the stereotypical trouble making teen, he is into drugs, drink and doesn't usually leave a night out without a fight with someone.
My Opinions On This Character: I have to say I can't stand him! Just the attitude and the personality irritates me. In the first few episodes I liked Cook and in the last episode I thought he seemed nicer but in general I don't like the character!

JJ
===================
JJ is the odd one out of the group. He doesn't drink or take drugs. He is very into model making and magic tricks and often finds social situations hard to deal with. His is on a lot of medication for various things, he also suffers from Autism.
My Opinions On This Character: He's great. Before the show revealed that JJ has autism nobody quite understood some of his characteristics but the actor who plays JJ is so convincing, I think it's great that they introduced this character!

Freddie

Freddie is the laid back one of the group. He is happiest just skating around Bristol and is not usually seen without a joint in hand. The relationship between Freddie and Effy has been the main focus for a lot of episodes.
My Opinions On This Character: I'm undecided. I liked him in the first half of the series but the character seemed to change quite a lot in the second half. The guy who plays Freddie is a very good actor but I think the writers could have given him some better storylines.

Thomas
====================
Thomas is an immigrant from Congo. He comes to live in Bristol hoping for a better life for him and his family. His charcater is portrayed as a very polite, laid back guy who respects everyone a lot and wants to please everybody. Much like his girlfriend Pandora his has an innocence and naivety about him but in a different way.
My Opinions On This Character: It'snice to see such a wide range of characters in Skins this series and Thomas definitely stands out as the well manered one, he is a very loveable character and one of my favourites!

Effy
====================
Effy is the sister of Tony from the first series. She is a strange character, she seems to be in self destruct mode until the end of the series. All the boys want her, she is popular with most of the group.
My Opinions On This Character: I like the factthat she's very mysterious. You can never tell what's going to happen with Effy, she's very unpredictable. Again, I think she could have had some more episodes but the ones where she was the main focus were great.

Pandora

Pandora, or 'Panda', is Effy's best friend. She is known for being very naive and still acts quite childlike in the first half of the series. As the series go on you see the fun loving, caring girl that Pandora really is.
My Opinions On This Character: I think she is hilarious. She comes out with some of the best one liners that crack me up everytime. I likle her naivety and think it's good to have a character like this in the group, it's a shame that she didn't have more episodes where she was the main focus though.

Naomi

Naomi is very independant, she doesn't hesitate to speak her mind and she's very much the individual. Throughout the series you see a more vulnerable side to this character as she struggles with her sexuality and her feelings for Emily.
My Opinions On This Character: Naomi is one of my favourite characters. I like how opinionated and individual she is, she's a great charcter and the group wouldn't be the same without her in it!

Emily

Emily is the nice one of the two twins. Half way through the series she comes out as gay and fights to get the girl she loves. She's also a great character and shows the stronger side of her near the end of the series when she trys to stop living in her twins shadow.
My Opinions On This Character: She's brilliant. She has some great storylines in this series and she is also quite the individual. She s my second avourite character, the actress that plays her is brilliant!

Katie
====================
The evil twin!!! Katie is the complete opposite to Emily. She's boy mad, not very individual and is always trying to boss her sister around and be more popular. She hates Effy and is always trying to get one over on her until Effy nearly kills her when she has a bad trip on mushrooms!!
My Opinions On This Character: I can't stand her! I think her sister is a much better actress. I know a lot of pepole like this character, vain, bossy, irritating!

My Overall Opinion

This show is very addictive! I love it. I think it is much better than the first two series, if you watched the first two then I would definitely give this one a chance, it's brilliant and a lot more believable (apart from the excessive drug taking!). The characters are really good whether you like them or not and the storylines in this sheries have been fantastic. I personally can't wait for the next series and recommend it to everyone!
