Sky Cops
With the advent of shows like big brother, im a celebrity and x factor it seemed that you didn't have too look to hard to find a reality television show. Whilst not a fan of the aforementioned shows it opened the gates to a flood of reality television shows on all sorts of topics ranging from decorating your house to running a supermarket. Generally speaking I am not a great fan of these reality shows however I do enjoy reality shows that follow the cops. One such show that I have enjoyed is Sky Cops.
What are sky cops?
Sky cops is a British based documentary series that follows the police helicopter of the South Yorkshire Police. The show is similar to traffic cops and both are broadcast on the BBC. The narrator of sky cops is Jamie Theakston and has run for two series since October 2006. Each show last an hour.
My opinion
I have to say that I have enjoyed this show over the past year or so. I wouldn't go out of my way to watch it but if it was on I will normally give it a go. The basic format is that a camera man rides along with the police helicopter of the South Yorkshire Police as they pursue criminals. The helicopter they use is an EC 145.
The helicopter is called into assists in a number of instances ranging from burglaries to high speed car chases. There is sometimes another camera man with the police on the ground and the film is put together so that you have views of both ground and air police working together.
All in all this is a decent show and an interesting insight into the world of helicopter based law enforcement.
Summary: Decent if nothing else is on.
