Snog, Marry Avoid? is a new programme shown on BBC3 and hosted by Jenni Frost, who used to be a band member of Atomic Kitten.
It is a show designed for people who are probably classed as Over The Top with their looks - You know the ones, hardly any clothing, too many piercings, caked full of make up, too much hairspray .. half the people looking more like You've Been Extra Tangoed Wotsits rather than real people.
Jenni Frost and her computerised camera also known as 'Pod', bring two or more people in to have a 'make under'. To remove their make up, scrub them down, and show them at their natural beauty - apparently. They stand and stare into the camera, which we all know as Pod, whilst Pod rips into them for the way they look. Members of the public are shown photos of the person standing in front of Pod, and are asked the question would you Snog, Marry or Avoid this person?. Hence the programme title. To which the answer of this question is usually avoid at the beginning of the show as the man or woman usually looks like they are drag queens or OTT Wannabe Wags! Picture it - fake boobs, fake hair, fake tan, fake bod and this includes men as well. Too much make up, lack of clothes, too much cleavage - again I'm talking about men - no really! lol.
Each make under-ee then chooses a new hair colour out of four that are offered to them and a new celeb style too.
Pod then works her magic and gives them a make under. Not that you get to see what is actually being done, instead we see the 'after' result. The results are usually quite good, less make up, bodies covered up in smart/casual clothing, piercings maybe taken out, extensions gone. Pods mood soon changes when the make under is complete and is full to the brim with compliments - although not all the results are that spectacular, the odd few look worse without their masks on!
To add a bit of Oomph into the show they sometimes have celebrities, such as Cheeky girls, Chantelle from Big Brother and Michelle Heaton former band member from Liberty X.
At the end of the show Jenny meets up with one or two of the make under-ees to see if they have kept their make under look, which of course half of them havn't - they are back to their black rooted peroxide blonde locks and fake baked skin!
This show is absolutely terrible to be honest, but I just can't help but watch it as it is so silly it really does give me a giggle. Pod completely shows people up with her/it's sarcastic insults and comments. The people who go on there are usually a complete mess, or have really got to be taking the mickey, surely? I know we all have different styles but these people surely can't dress the way they do for real. They vary in age and lifestyles to make the show a little 'different too.
Overall the show is tacky, and probably just as fake as the people that go on there. Jenni I find a little perculiar and false - she actually blends in well with the show.
It is usually showing real late at night - which is not a surprise as people are in bed and I don't think many people would purposely wait up to watch it. If you fancy a good joke then go on watch it, if you enjoy 'real' TV though this is not the programme for you.
