Soaps in general

I must say I am a girl who loves my good fix of all soaps there are so many so I'll go through the ones I do watch. BBC1- Eastenders. I have written a review on this somewhere. Eastenders is on bbc1 weekdays Monday 8pm,Tuesday 7:30pm,Thursday 7:30pm and Friday 8pm. Itv-Coronation street Mondays 7:30pm and 8pm,Wednesdays 7:30pm,and Fridays 7:30pm and 8pm. Emmerdale weekdays at 7pm. 5- Home and away weekdays at 6pm Neighbours weekdays 5:30pm. Soaps in general as much as we try to say that we do not watch them or that we do not like them, we all watch a soap at some time and most of us watch at least one soap. All the channels have a soap war in trying to get the ratings in and become the best soap. BBC 1 have the likes of Eastenders, Doctors and Holby City. ITV have Coranation Street, The Bill and Emmerdale Channel 4 have Hollyoaks. Channel 5 have Neighbours and Home and Away. You even have a huge selection in the world of satelite and cable. WHAT IS A SOAP? British TV is littered with soap operas (aka soaps). By definition a soap is an on-going fictional TV serial and historically there were called soaps as they were radio serials that were sponsored by soap manufacturers such as Lever Brother, Colgate-Palmolive and Procter & Gamble. Well then there are that many different things going on in the different soaps i dont realy know where to start. Soaps are programs made to seem like real life and it is unbelieveable how many people you hear talking about them as if they are real. BBC1 main soap opera is Eastenders, whos residents live in the dark and dingy area of Albert square in Walford london. Of course this is a fictional place not a real one so dont go getting your maps out trying to find it. A soap is a ongoing tv serial. These TV programmes run for a long time and people develop feelings for the characters. Some are hated and some are loved. Consider the oldest running soap on British Television. Yes guys I am talking about Coronation Street. This year it will be 49 years old. I guess majority of people who watched it in the first year are dead now. East Enders in another very popular show. It started couple of decades later in the 80's.
