Emmerdale:
... well before my arrival in 1972, Emmerdale is a soap that I have grown accustomed to over the years. Being an avid watcher of the likes of Eastenders and Corrie, it was an inevitability that as the cast grew more intriguing, that I d be hooked at some point! Initially known as Emmerdale Farm, it was abbreviated in 1989 to reflect changes in the soap. Instead of focussing on the farm, the camera was diverted to ... Brookside ... must confess that I am not really in any way a soap fan. I got roped into watching Brookside when I was younger (in the late 1990s), and given my hatred for soaps, it was in my opinion the best of the bunch. It wasn t as stuffy as Corronation Street, nor as poorly acted and shoddily made as Eastenders. It was a nice middle ground that had a few revolutionary ideas even if it was ultimately still a dodgy soap. The show took place in an estate called Brookside Close in Liverpool, where, as with most soaps, everyone was either a criminal, an alcoholic, or had some strange secret that they were conceiling. The show was actually shot on a real "close" to enhance r... Read the full review: Hilariously over the top soap by shaneo632 |

Eastenders ... is a BBC soap opera that is consistently one of the most watched programmes in Britain. It really is a terrible programme, but i can understand why it is so popular. It s fantastic for making you feel good about your own life, as everyone without exception is consistently miserable. The plot lines vary from topical, covering issues of the day to the farcical. Set in the fictional Albert Square in East London, the majority of the population seem to spend their entire day in the pub, and curiously despite most of them having jobs, never seem to actually be in work! The acting is variable, with some of the cast being quite superb in their roles (Phil Mitchell) w... Read the full review: Eastenders by Gaven |

Eastenders ... should make it clear that I am NOT a fan of Eastenders, and I have only seen a handful of episodes, but frankly I have seen enough to gain an opinion on the show, and it baffles me that people are willing to put up with such dross and consider it entertaining. Like the vast majority of soaps, Eastenders is shoddily made, poorly acted, and plotted with all the cohesion of an Alzheimer s ward. Eastenders is set in the fictional area of Walford in East London, an area where everyone is an alcoholic, murder, child abuser or some form of low-life, and real, personable people are hard to come by. There are a few dinosaurs that have seemingly been on the show forever, such as... Read the full review: Poor in every aspect by shaneo632 |
