SpacedNewest Review: ... mean it would have always struggled to make it on a station such as BBC One or Two, and various other sitcoms since Spaced on Channel 4 have attempted - often in vain - to be as successful as this was. When series two finished, there was a possibility that a third series could appear, but Pegg and Stevenson have always denied that there will be. Having been so long since the end of the second series now, I think we all know what the answer will be unfortunately. The box-set of the series is available on Amazon for just £8.98; this is incredibly cheap for 14 episodes of first class comedy, so buy it now! It's also started showing on Dave (bu... more |

There was a time when Simon Pegg wasn't appearing in bad Star Trek films and starring in exceptional sitcoms which he had a big hand in writing - this is Spaced. Now starting to edge over the ten years old mark, Spaced was a sitcom regarding two strangers (played by Pegg and Jessica Stevenson) who meet in a greasy spoon café, and figure out they both need somewhere to live, despite barely knowing each other. They move into a two bedroom flat owned by the creepy landlady Marsha and then the tales begin. The two series predominantly feature storylines regarding Pegg and Stevenson's characters - Tim Bisley and Daisy Steiner - but there are other ... Read the complete review

Spaced is a massively under rated late 90's Channel 4 programme series which came out on VHS and DVD so now you can own this fantastic series forever!! Me and my mates used to do impressions and sketches from the show and fall about laughing cos no one knew what we were on about, it's the funniest thing ever to ever come out of Channel 4. Not many people have heard of Spaced but it is blimmin geniusss!! Spaced is written by and also starring Simon Pegg and Jessica Stevenson, and directed by Edgar Wright. It is famous for its rapid-fire editing, pop culture in jokes reference, crazy music, and some really mad displays of surrealism. Two ... Read the complete review

While I was a bit young to get spaced the first time around (I was 9), I got the 2 series on dvd recently and completely fell in love. It is Simon Pegg and Nick Frost at their very best, even more so than their more mainstream works like Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz. The plot centres around Tim Bisley and Daisy Steiner, 2 twenty-somethings who both need places to stay (Daisy was previously living in a squat, Tim just broke up with his girlfriend), and after meeting in a cafe and poring over the "flats-to-rent" sections of the newspaper, they decide to move in together. The one catch is that the only place available is advertising for a ... Read the complete review

Spaced is probably one of my all time favourite programmes, even though I missed out on it when it first appeared on TV, back in 1999, and only caught up with it with later DVD releases. It is one of the funniest comedy dramas I have ever seen, based around the lives of some slacker housemates and their friends. The series borrows heavily from cult fiction, such as the Matrix, and especially Star Wars, and I think this is what appealed to me most about it. The story is about two people, Tim (Simon Pegg), an aspiring comic book artist, who acts like he is still 21, and Daisy (Jessica Stevenson), a wannabe writer, who never actually seems to write ... Not many people watched and appreciated spaced when it came out in the 90's. This may have been because it was very new very fresh and used new and imaginative techniques to insight the watchers, which at the time was not really understood or recognized as something special. It was written by Simon Pegg and Jessica Hynes who also were the main actors in the program. The sit com focuses around their lives and the various individuals that they are close to including characters such as Mike, Brian and Tyers. Each of them as different and as fantastic as the next. I like the fact they mention all the places they go such as Camden, they live in Tuffnel ... Read the complete review
