Advantages: Funny, sharp...and British Disadvantages: Not on often enough
Spaced is one of those television series which tends to grow on you. It contains humour which until you’ve watched the first few episodes, you don’t really ‘get’ it. There is a lot of ‘reference’ humour and you have to really think about some parts of it. The story revolves around the two main characters, Daisy and Tim, who end up living together under the pretences that they’re a couple, as they both need somewhere to live desperately. You are then introduced to Marsha, their landlady who is a chronic alcoholic and smoker and Brian, the tenant who lives downstairs and has a very peculiar way of expressing himself through art. There is also the best friends of Daisy and Tim – Twist ‘her parents were hippies’ and Mike ‘a wannabe soldier’, respectively. The main strength of this series is the character interaction and the insight into their own thought patterns, which I find really refreshing. This series really does have something for everyone – as long as everyone likes off-the-wall humour tinged with sharp wit and one-liners. Summary: |
