Advantages: Fantastic comedy
Disadvantages: some people may find it hard to understand
Spaced is a strange comedy, suited for people with a certain sense of humour which I can't actually describe. I think the writers of this wonderful and bizarre comedy must have been spaced out when they wrote this, on drugs or something. I swear it will be the funniest comedy you will ever watch. The programme is based around two characters, Tim (Simon Pegg) and Daisy (Jessica Stevenson). They meet in a cafe when Tim's girldfriend leaves him for one of Tims mates, and Daisy is just trying to get her life sorted. They are both looking for new places when they stumble across an apartment for professional couples only. They decide to pretend to be a proffessional couple, writing down facts about each other: Tim: 'Your two greatest fears are Spiders and mice..' Daisy: 'Correct' Tim:'But your oh so more greater fear is the two species combining to form a spider mice which immobilises the human race in its vast webs in order to steal cheese' Daisy: 'I never said that' Tim: 'Yeah I know, but it'd be cool wouldn't it!' A lot more funnier on the show, I assure you. They decide on how long they've been going out, 5 years, 8 months and 3 days. They get the flat but after two days of living there the downstairs flatmate comes up to visit called Brian (Mark Heap). The Land Lady, Marsha, is also there. Brian asks them how long they been together: Daisy + Tim: '5 years, 8 months and 3 days' Marsha: (drunk) 'thats what you said two days ago' Daisy + Tim: (in minds) SHIT! Tim: Yes, thats right, we actually have two anniversaries. Daisy takes it from the first time we kissed, I take it from the first time we were physically intimate with each other' Marsha: 'Who's is it today' Tim: 'Daisy's' Brian: 'So you had sex before you kissed' Daisy and Tim: (in minds) SHIT! Ti
m: Yes! This is just one of the many fantastic sequences in the series (which is available on DVD and Video). Bits in the show are always chopping and changing bewtween flashes and the real time, which is very funny. Additional characters are Tim's best mate, Mike, who is a weapons expert. He wants to be in the army but can't because of a childhood accident, but did try to invade Paris in a tank whilst with the TA. There is also Twist, who ends up with Brian and is Daisy's best mate, and Amber who is Marsha's daughter and never gets seen. The first series is absolutely fantastic and the second coming is proving to be much of the same, which is shown on Channel 4 on Friday nights. This little all else I can describe. This twisted, bizzare, down-right hilarious comedy and should be viewed by everyone!
