Advantages: Very, very funny, Clever movie references, Good on screen chemistry
Disadvantages: Series too short, Some references are lost, A bit strange at times
This programme is one of a very select handful that can make me laugh out loud! So brilliant that if anyone has not seen it, I advise them to do so quickly. It's based around 2 strangers (Daisy and Tim) who are both on the lookout for a new flat after suffering problems with their previous accommodation. This is namely a cheating ex-girlfriend and a bunch of student stoners! They meet in a cafe in North London everyday until they decide to move in together. The only problem is is their dream flat is for Professional Couples Only! They go along with the facade and ultimately get the flat. Tim is a budding artist/cartoonist and works for Fantasy Bazaar (a comic store) and Daisy is a budding writer but unfortunately has massive writers block. Enter the other characters: Marsha - a permanantly drunk landlady who is actually very lonely. Marsha's daughter Amber, who we never see except for running full pelt out of the house from a screaming Marsha. Mike - Tim's best friend who is an army nut and has amusingly enough been banned for stealing a tank and trying to invade France! Then there's Brian - the eccentric painter from downstairs who seems to have a weird relationship with Marsha, and Twist - Daisy's best friend who's in fashion...well she works in a Dry Cleaners! The thing that makes this different from many UK comedy's is that it's chock full of Movie references that are absolutely hilarious. The on screen chemistry between Simon Pegg (Tim) and Jessica Stevenson (Daisy) is amazing. It really works and they play their parts with ease. The series is set in and around this flat in North London and comprises of about 9 episodes. Sadly there were only 2 series made, to many a persons disappointment. Anyway, both Series 1 & 2 have been released on DVD and VHS . The DVD's are rammed full of extras ranging from Deleted Scenes to Outtakes to Behind the scenes footage. An excellent programme cut down in i
t's prime!
